Cricket Mania

Thursday’s win against Australia was phenomenal and exceptional. Whenever India displays team spirit they really bring it on. Now there is always a heartbreak when we lose Sachin’s wicket and every once in a while there is an unnecessary fumble as was Gambhir’s runout. But the fact that they drove out the three times consistent World Champions - Australia out of the World Cup series and that it was Ponting’s last World Cup game, while Sachin scored 18,000 ODI runs becoming the first batsman to ever do so, makes me wonder, “What a marvelous day it was !!”

And now on Wednesday, March 30th we will witness the most awaited game of this World Cup series  – India vs. Pakistan; one that every Indian and Pakistani relishes on. The match that’s like watching the two countries on a battlefield.

Now I may not come across as the biggest sports fan or for that matter a huge cricket buff. And I am not. Having grown up to an elder brother, Devendra Pandit, who was thrice his high school’s cricket captain, the one who led his team successfully in the renowned Harris and Giles Shield; was also in Sachin Tendulkar’s team in Kirti College and a personal favorite of Shri Anna Vaidya (Sunil Gavaskar’s ex-coach) and Shri Ramakant Acharekar (Sachin Tendulkar’s ex-coach), and a bowling mentor to Ajit Agarkar, I was a little intimidated for taking up Cricket as a hobby. It was not just my brother who had excelled at it, but my average cricket skills weren’t good enough for the most amazing players I played with on the grounds of Shivaji Park. Some of them even went on to be National Champions.

So I thought, rather than spending time exploring my mediocre cricket skills, why not concentrate on doing something that I was good at and the rest is, well not history, but is yet to happen.
Regardless, I am an Indian and the three things Indian’s love, are Cricket, Bollywood movies and to blame their Political system. And whenever there is an exceptional match, especially against Pakistan or Australia, we gear up and we don’t lose even a single minute of the spectacular game. The India vs. Pakistan match is a great combination coz it is of course CRICKET and it has all the masala that’s needed in a Bollywood movie plus it gives us a chance to BS our politicians … ha ha ….

As such, here’s a song to raise the spirits of the Indian team. In fact, it’s not just a song, it’s a prayer. It’s a prayer that is full of hope and confidence that the Indian team will triumph with flying colors in the Cricket World Cup 2011.

MAY THE HISTORY REPEAT AFTER 28 YEARS. GO TEAM INDIA. JEETENGE!!!

Here are the lyrics –

Chorus
-------------
Jeetenge, Jeetenge, Jeetenge, Jeetenge
Jeetenge, Jeetenge, Jeetenge, Jeetenge

Mukhda
------------
Ladenge jee jaan se, Nibhayenge sare sapne
Khelenge itne shaan se, jaise khela na koi jag mein
Ladenge jee jaan se, Nibhayenge sare sapne
Khelenge itne shaan se, jaise khela na koi jag mein
[Repeat Chorus]

Antra 1
-----------
Inko haraye koi, kisi mein dum nahi hai
Hausle hai buland, yeh kisi se kum nahi hai
Inko haraye koi, kisi mein dum nahi hai
Hausle hai buland, yeh kisi se kum nahi hai

[Repeat Chorus]

Antra 2
----------
To aao, Himmat inki badhaye
Jee bhar ke, De inko pyar humara
Aur milke, Haaton ko hum jode
Mange usse, India ko jeetade dubara

[Repeat Chorus]

[Repeat Mukhda]

[Repeat Chorus]

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!

Dear Blog,

This month marks your first anniversary. Exactly a year ago, you were launched and today you are an integral part of my life. I know I have become ignorant lately. Between the commitment towards my job, family, professional certifications and slightly serious guitar practice, I have completely ignored you for the past two months, for which I apologize to you. But I want to tell you that every single time I thought about you and felt bad that I have not been able to spend time on you.

A year ago I made a commitment to myself that I would update you every Friday. It seemed much easier then. I had a good pool of songs and thoughts to get started. I still have the great pool of songs that I composed over the past four years, but as you grew and I started making progress on adding soundtracks to the songs, it became more and more difficult for me to compile and publish the songs consistently.

Today, you are exactly one year old. Just like a baby, you’ve grown. As a baby would start walking and possibly even start blabbering in some cases, you’ve got yourself 12 dedicated followers and an average of 10 hits per day from across the world (visitor map is shared below). Given the fact that we haven’t marketed or promoted you enough in the past one year, the number of hits, seem satisfactory.

I congratulate you on making it through one full year and on this day I present you the same song that I had launched you with – Tere Bina – this time with the soundtrack.

I still look back on that day and wonder how it all happened. There was no planning, no deep thought; just a spontaneous reaction. I was finding ways to share my compositions with others and let everyone know of the hobby that I’d developed. I never thought I would see this day. As a kid, I was an artist – drawing, painting being the primary, then was acting and later it was singing. I always envisioned that my professional career would be that of a painter or an actor, having acted in few TV serials and a Marathi movie with the great Laxmikant Berde. But I never imagined I would compose music and write songs. When I had to take life seriously, I gave up my dream of becoming an artist and instead became a certified IBM consultant. After I got married, when my lovely wife noticed that I have the potential to compose songs, she inspired me to take music seriously and made me believe that I can relive my dream of becoming an artist. And that’s how you came along.

For the future, I have great plans for you, but more of that later. For now, enjoy this day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
